Hello, I'm Emma, the funeral conductor for Bare in Victoria. I've always had a strong desire to help people. I was the go-to for advice for friends, always stayed after class to assist the teachers and often put my hand up for projects outside my scope of work around the office. Some people may call it being a goody two shoes but honestly, it's what made me happiest—being of service to others. I've spent a long time finding a way to do that in other professions but it was consistently secondary to my primary task. In this role it is my whole task and as cheesy as it sounds I feel like I have finally found a place in the world and a career that is meaningful and fulfilling.

Why I love what I do:

In my role, I find immense pride in shouldering the practical responsibilities of the day, whether it's coordinating audiovisual equipment, welcoming guests or arranging a tranquil memorial space. This allows families the precious freedom to focus on what truly matters during such a difficult time. This intertwining of personal fulfilment and professional satisfaction has become the very essence of my journey. Standing alongside families as they bid farewell to their cherished loved ones is not just a duty, but a profound privilege and honour that I hold dear.

When I'm not at work:

When I'm not busy with family time, you'll find me lost in my creative bubble, whether painting, cross-stitching, writing, reading, multimedia design or giving furniture a new lease on life through upcycling. Oh, and let's not forget my ever-growing collection of plants and my love for all things music.
